On iPhone

You use Groovy Journal on your iPhone. You type your entries and they are safe in your private iCloud, secured with Sign in with Apple and your Apple ID. That is Apple's iCloud. The developer of Groovy Journal does not have access to it. We cannot read your journal, and we do not keep a copy.

If you attach a photo on iPhone, it stays in Photos on your phone. We do not have access to it, and we do not keep a copy.

Apple takes care of sign-in, iCloud, and App Store payments. We do not see your card.

On your phone you can delete an entry you no longer want. If you get a new iPhone, or you take the app off this phone and put it back on, your journal is still in your private iCloud. Sign in with your Apple ID and it is there.

On the website

There is also a free website at journal.groovycode.xyz. That is a different app from the iPhone app. The journal on the website does not sync with the journal on the iPhone app, and neither is viewable from the other.

On the website you sign in with email, Google, or Apple. Your journal lives on this device. If you are signed in, we keep a copy on our servers so you can use another browser or device you own and see that journal after you log in.

You can export your journal as a file from the web app at any time. That file is yours.

To delete the website account, open Settings and choose Delete account. Type DELETE. Your journal is completely deleted from the server. Your sign-in credentials and email address are completely deleted from our database. Your journal is completely erased from the device you used to sign in. There is no ticket to file and no waiting period. We do not make account deletion hard.

For both

We do not sell your journal or share it with anyone. There are no ads, and we do not track you.

We follow GDPR rules on personal data we hold. We keep only what the product needs, and you can remove your website account yourself as above. On iPhone, your journal stays under your Apple ID in your private iCloud; we do not keep a second copy.
